BackOur Curriculum Intent
St John’s Catholic Primary School’s vision is ‘Let the Light of Christ shine in us.’ Through our broad and balanced curriculum, we strive to develop and nurture the skills, knowledge and learning attitudes of our pupils so that they may become the best versions of themselves and allow them to shine like a light in all that they do.
The Catholic values and teachings that our school uphold help children to develop their social and moral code, as they build their sense of uniqueness and self-worth as individuals. We strongly believe every child deserves the opportunity to be able to cultivate their God-given talents and to achieve their true potential.
As part of our curriculum, we aim to equip all children with the skills and knowledge to be successful in the next steps of their learning journey. We aim for our children to enjoy and recognise the value of learning and become educated and successful global citizens.
Our Pedagogical approach
At St. John's, all our subjects in Key Stage One and Key Stage Two are underpinned by Barak Rosenshine's 'Principles of Instruction'.

Rosenshines 'Principles of Instruction' are broken down into ten key principles. These areas underpin the quality of teaching and learning delivered at St. John's.
