History of St. John's
Founded in 1972 by the Sisters of Providence, Sr. John’s School has a rich history of faith, education, and service to the community. Named after its founding Sister, the school was established to provide a nurturing and academically rigorous environment for children in Baldock. From the very beginning, Sr. John’s School has been closely linked with the parish of St. Augustine, serving both the church and the wider local community. Over the decades, the school has upheld the Sisters' vision, instilling values of compassion, integrity, and leadership in generations of students.
In 2012, the school joined the Diocese of Westminster Academy Trust, ensuring continued growth while remaining true to its Catholic foundations. Although the Sisters of Providence are no longer physically present, their legacy endures through the beautiful stained glass window in the entrance lobby, the Stations of the Cross displayed throughout the school, and the statue of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in the playground. These treasured symbols serve as a daily reminder of the school’s spiritual heritage and the lasting impact of the Sisters’ dedication to faith and education.
