Our Catholic School

Welcome to St. John’s Catholic Primary School, Baldock – A Nurturing Environment for Faith and Learning

St. John’s Catholic Primary School is a proud member of the Diocese of Westminster Academy Trust and the Diocese of Westminster, deeply rooted in the traditions and teachings of the Catholic Church. Our mission is to provide a rich, holistic Catholic education to the children of the Holy Trinity and St. Augustine of Canterbury parish, fostering both their spiritual and moral development.

Religious Education at the Heart of Our School

At St. John’s, religious education is not just a subject; it’s the foundation of our school’s ethos. We dedicate 10% of our curriculum time to the teaching of Religious Education (RE) using the respected ‘Margaret Carswell’ scheme, which guides our students from Early Years through Year 6. Our commitment to faith extends beyond RE lessons, as we integrate spiritual reflection and moral teaching across the entire curriculum.

A Vibrant Community of Worship

Collective worship is a cornerstone of life at St. John’s. Our whole school community gathers for collective worship three times a week, while individual classes lead their own worship on the remaining days. These moments of reflection and prayer foster a deep sense of community and shared faith among our students.

Our parish priest is a frequent and cherished visitor, bringing the church closer to our children. We regularly come together as a school or in year groups to celebrate Mass, marking the liturgical seasons and significant moments in our school year.

Prayer as a Daily Practice

Prayer is integral to the life of St. John’s, both in group settings and as a personal practice. We encourage our children to embrace prayer as a way to connect with their faith, find comfort, and grow spiritually, ensuring it remains a vital part of their daily lives.

We invite you to learn more about how we inspire faith, learning, and a sense of community in our students by visiting our website or contacting us directly.
