Pupil Premium is additional funding given to schools in England in order to close the gap between disadvantaged children and their peers and help raise their attainment levels.
This funding is provided to both mainstream schools, like St. John’s but also to special schools and is dependent on the amount of children as to the funding that is given. The criteria to gain funding of each children, largely consists of:
- Having been within the care system for 6 months +
- Being in eligible for a current free school meal, or within the last 6 years
